The Top 5 Phones with Highest Radiation

You have probably heard the warnings that talking too much on your cell phone can cause brain cancer. Maybe you took them seriously, and maybe you didn’t. After all, the threat seems remote, everyone else uses their phone day in and day out, and when you put your phone down after a conversation you don’t actually feel ill. So the warnings are easy to dismiss.

Scientific research, however, shows that cell phone radiation does in fact have a negative effect on the human body. Recent studies have also shown a strong correlation between  phone usage and proximity on the one hand, and decreased sperm counts in males on the other.

As a result of the scientific evidence, there is a growing realisation that cell phone radiation can cause a whole host of problems. In the rush to adopt the useful new technology that cell phones represent, it looks as though we have overlooked a very real danger. From now on, we are going to have to think harder about the safety implications of our favourite gadgets.

Cell phones have become so entrenched in our lives that ‘gadgets’ hardly seems the right word. They are everyday necessities for millions of people worldwide. But, if keeping away from cellphones is impossible, we can at least make an effort to avoid the dirtiest, most radiation polluting and therefore dangerous models.

In reverse order, here are the cell phones that have the highest (and therefore most dangerous) SAR (Specific Absorption Rate). To set these figures in context, note that the highest SAR allowed by law in the United States is 1.5 watts/kg (rounded to the nearest 0.1W/KG).These phones are close to, at or above that rate.

  1. Huawei Vitria (SAR 1.49)

That’s just .01 off from the highest level allowed! A very cheap smart phone, but you’ll pay a price in the form of the high radiation this thing is making your body absorb.

  1. Alcatel One Touch Evolve (SAR 1.49)

The Evolve tends to get horrible reviews, and it gets a horrible health rating too, thanks to its high radiation emissions. At just $99 this phone rings in a lot of customers, but they may not be aware of the danger lurking in their pockets.

  1. Motorola Moto E (SAR 1.5)

At just $140 this Android phone with water resistant capabilities is a good deal, but as with the Alcatel it saves you money but exposes you to a lot of radiation. A step up to the Motorola Moto G would get you off of the danger list.

  1. Motorola Droid (SAR 1.54)

This phone is clearly not a healthy choice. It is a premium phone in terms of its features, but not in terms of its effect on your body.

  1. Motorola Droid Max (1.54)

A huge battery capacity, high-performing premium phone that sadly tops the SAR list, making it a very poor choice health wise.

Remember, all phones produce radiation, but some have a SAR significantly higher than others. We need in future to pay more attention to SAR ratings, and to be more aware of the risk we are running.Whatever your level of exposure, it’s a sensible precaution to take steps to minimise it as far as you can. A good start is to avoid the high radiating phones in the list above.
